On Monday, I stepped out during my school breaks to see all the raucous. Watch the video below to hear the music yourself. I shot the video and the pictures within 100 yards of our apartment.
The weather hovered in the mid-90s with 80% humidity, and at mid-day the sun was unforgiving. Sweat drenched the marchers. The jet-black City God was the parade’s most common figure, a different version walked by every 200 feet. (Each city in China and Taiwan has its own god.) Look below for a close-up photo of one City God mask.

Hey Adam and Devin,
Wow, This was a cool post, you guys are certainly in another world. The video sounded scary.
The weather here is in the high 70's, we're finally getting a break from the 90's. So, I can imagine how unforgiving it is for you.
Keep those evil spirits away!!
Take care of one another,
Mom
Hi
Devin and Adam,
As I listened to the music, I could only imagine how their music has influenced Bob Dylan's tunes. He must have detoured through Taiwan en-route to the East Coast after leaving Hibbing. No wonder his songs have that Pacific rim undertone.
It's still very hot and humid here yet, too. Around 90 today with humidity almost as high. It's Labor Day and the last day of the MN State Fair. It's supposed to be about the same tomorrow, first day of school. I would think the kids here will be squirming in their seats the same as your students there.
Hope you had a good time in Taipei, we'll wait to here about it. You can log onto the Northfield News to see and read about Peter's game Friday. And St. John's won on Saturday over Marrietta of Ohio, 55-14. Peter and I had a great time sitting with the President Of St. John's. Gary and Ron were with us, too.
Continue to enjoy and experience your 'new' part of the world!
Take Great Care
Muck love to you both,
Dad
